For April’s Making Your Own Path, I wanted to write about young athlete Charlotte Young.
“I’m Charlotte Young and I love running. I run for Medway and Maidstone athletics club and kent as well. I’ve been to the nationals, the inter-county nationals and the english schools this year. I think running is so fun socially, mentally and physically which makes it a great sport for everyone.”
How long have you been running?
4 years now
Have you always liked sport?
Yes, I’m a keen sports player and I play football as well as run. I enjoy it very much.
What do you never leave the house without and why?
Food as I get hungry very quickly!
What do you do when you lack motivation?
Think of the positives that happened and focus on them
Last book you read?
The fault in our stars by john green – it was a great book
Favourite movie and why?
Legally blonde – it’s quite inspirational as well as funny and I enjoy watching it
Who is your biggest inspiration?
Probably Laura Muir, she’s broken loads of British records and is now winning medals to show for it. She also runs the distance that I run
If you could be anyone for one day who would you be?
Somebody like an MP so i can make a significant change in the way sport is presented in this country.
My new running spikes, they’re so nice and I’m buzzing to use them for the first time.
Liking chocolate! I’m sure you can still have that as a runner though.
Tell me a tip you swear by, it can be anything…
There’s a sport out there for everyone, you just have to be bothered enough to find it.
Tell me one fact about yourself that most people don’t know?
I’m currently doing my grade 6 piano.
How do you measure your success?
If my times have improved from each race, then I feel as though I’m progressing.
I’m sure you’ll agree with me that Charlotte is so lovely and has a bright future. She’s incredibly talented in many aspects and I hope the best for her future.
